Progress is steadily unfolding in Canyon Lake.. This modern country home is being brought to life almost entirely by the owner himself, with minimal subcontracting.

Cover-up / Gypsum Phase

Before gypsum board can be installed in a new home, several critical steps must be completed to ensure the structure is safe, efficient, and up to code. First, all rough-in work for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems must be finalized. This includes installing electrical wiring, outlet and switch boxes, plumbing supply and drain lines, and HVAC ductwork. Each system should be inspected and approved by the relevant authorities before moving forward. Any necessary blocking or backing for fixtures, cabinetry, or wall-mounted elements should also be in place at this stage to avoid future disruptions.

Once the rough-ins are complete, insulation and sound attenuation materials are installed between the studs. Thermal insulation helps regulate indoor temperature and energy efficiency, while sound batts (often placed in interior walls) reduce noise transfer between rooms. Careful attention is paid to sealing gaps and ensuring full coverage, especially around penetrations and junctions.
